Privileged To Be In Chicago for a Week
Thursday, May 27 In Chicago for 6 days and we start off by having a meeting in Batman’s Bedroom! The hotel we were staying at used the penthouse conference room as Batman’s bedroom in “The Dark Knight”. After a couple warm up beverage stops, we decide to stop in to Rick Bayless’ Frontera Grill.
We lucked out and after ordering 1 beer, the guy sitting at the bar in front of me handed me his buzzing table beeper thingy. The couple next to us had reservations for a month and the wait that night was two hours! He had 1 or 2 James Beard awards on display on your way to the potty.
Even got to enjoy some beverage time at The House of Blues
Dinner the Next Night was at Brazzaz and we got completely demolished by meat and beverage.
Then I am surprised by the invitation to join dinner at Marcus Samuelsson’s C-House! I am having a hard time believing that I am lucky enough to eat here after the meals I’ve already had this week. For Downtown Chicago, the menu was extremely affordable. To sum up the whole dinner, everything was incredible and I felt lucky to have put every bite in my mouth. We ordered damn near everything on the menu, even one of the prix fixe offerings for the table to share.
When dessert came, chef threw down all the ice creams and sorbets they make in the house! I am a lucky man…
We stop by a place named The Purple Pig, with a slogan of “Cheese, Wine, and Swine”.
Ummm…. YES PLEASE! We had a few appetizers and had to make it to our boat. I could have spent all night in the Purple Pig, with the small plates of pig, cheese, and other deliciousness. Chicago River and Lake Michigan Boat Tour…. There’s a bar on the Boat!!!
Spectacular views of the city. Chicago Pizza at Giordano’s!!!
My trip ends with a visit to “The Signature Lounge” on the 96th floor of the John Hancock Building.
