A Week on the Road; Toro Bravo, Eat, Paley’s Place, Food Carts
Friday, April 8 Must I leave home for a week? If so, at least it is Portland that gets to be my home, and at least I get a personal housekeeper to make my bed every day.
Start off the week with a visit to Prost for some beers and sausages, then Eat Oyster Bar
I show up and everybody has a bourbon taster in front of them…
I would like one too please.
We also had a load of Kumamoto oysters and blackened catfish.
We couldn’t resist the temptation of fried ball of bacalao
and cousin Willischwab had never been, so Toro Bravo it is! Cousin WS don’t eat meat so we made an attempt to stay with fish. But then, the menu said “Grilled Sweetbreads”…
The next night we hit Davis Street Tavern
and on top of the amazing and perfect service, the delicious Mac n Cheese, and some Chicky Liver Mousse, I get the Milk Braised Osso Bucco!
We did do some work on the trip, and we made some Fried chicken and waffles, with bourbon caramel.
Along with fish tacos, pulled pork sliders with fried pickles, and a steak canapé withpuff pastry, balsamic onions, and parsley salad.
All the places we thought up to go for dinner were turning up closed on Monday night, but then, we decided on Paley’s Place As we walked in Kim greeted us like we had just walked in to our home and mom was waiting to feed us. They happened to be having a special Sustainable Fish night, where one side of the room was a Prix Fixe Bouillabaisse meal, and the other side was a la carte Crudo. We went with Crudo and it was insane.
Nummers
Nummers
Santa Barbara Spot Prawns, raw tail and fried heads, then duck fat poured all over the top. Super Nummers
One of the most delicious things I have ever tasted in my life… Monkfish Liver
Although we had already ate there once this week, Mountain Man Missed out, so we brought him to Toro Bravo, and it was delicious again!

On our way to a Food Cart, I saw this sign and I giggled
Then we had the Bi Bim Box here at Kim Jong Grillin
It was freaking on point Korean food! I only with I would have gotten shortribs instead of bulgogi, jut for the bones to gnaw on.
Time to Leave Portland and I need breakfast, how about some Foie Gras in the morning from Euro Trash Food Cart
I got home and found this on my doorstep.
Hells to the Yeah
