Long Beach, Washington Coast/Apo Lulu Induces Food Coma/Pork Carnitas

We went off to Long Beach, WA the weekend of the annual Kite Festival and tried the SUP board at Waikiki Beach, Cape Disappointment.  On our venture through the food carts, fried corndogs, elephant ears and stuff, we ran into a lady who makes sweet treats and trying to start a little snack shop business.  I had to get some chocolate whipped cream filled strawberries for the ladies.  But I convinced the lady to hook me up, free of charge, with one of her delicious smores on a stick.  Marshmallow on a stick, chocolate covered, and rolled in crumbled graham cracker and popped in the microwave for a few seconds to get it all gooey.  Me likey.  Check out this candied apple, complete with cinnamon toast crunch!

Then we ate at the Shellburne Pubour favorite spot in Long Beach.  Heres a shot of Maiyas Sole  My dumb phone deleted the other 4 pics of deliciousness that went into our bellies.

Mom is having people over to say goodbye to a friend who is moving away, so she cooks enough meat to feed a small country.  There is nothing like mom’s homemade lumpia.  I banged out a Kim Chee Stew from the Momofuku book.  It started with the bacon dashi ramen broth, then kim chee went in, browned Dok (fat rice gluten noodle nuggets), and topped with crunchy spam.   It will be eaten again!  Here is part of the major spread that we ate.  Please add some chicken liver and gizzards from Ezzell’s.  My dad had a Heineken Mini Keg, and Cuz wanted us to move to the next Newcastle mini keg, so we had to drink a crapload of beer.  After all this food and beer I seriously had to lay down.  I needed a couple hours of heavy breathing, groaning, laying, and holding my belly to recover from this food coma.

At the end of the week, sun inspires me to turn this slab of pig into delicious carnitas.  And some charred corn and peach salsa to top off the pork tacos.

Next up, more gluttony in Portland…..
